POST#4 LETS TALK ABOUT COPYRIGHT RULES

I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE YOU A BIRDS EYE VIEW ON COPYRIGHTS.....MEANING OF COPYRIGHT IS OWNERSHIP OF A CERTAIN PERSONAL CREATION...

  • In registration of copyrights...you have to submit 3 requirements  1.completed registration form in 3 copies...2. original item that would registered (2 original  copies)...3.registration fee
  • registration form contains 3 parts: 1st part contains  the bio -data of the registrant...2nd part contains  the description of the item to be registered....like in michael`s case as a song writer  ...the original  lyrics of the song and melody is submitted.....the original date it was fully accomplished....it is also classified accordingly if it is a love song... r and b...etc.....it is also classified if the song is for personal use...collection or public consumption..... names of co-writers are also asked in the registration....this are the typical  questions that should be answered by the registrant...the 3rd part contains data about  the replication and distribution of the item and declare the designated company that will manage the registered items ....in michael`s case,he put up a business firm  single proprietorship trade name mjj production....mjj production is the one who transact business with the  recording companies......michael will declare how many replication  made  .....how many distributed and how many was sold out  per reproduction....and he will also declare dates it was replicate....dates it was distributed and dates it was sold out
  • copyrights also have international serial numbers...so you can detect if your cd`s are being smuggled or pirated
  • copyrights in triplicate are all notarized to make it legal or public documents
  • government copyrights offices holds the 2 duplicate copy and the original copy is given to the registrant
  • the law says that the immediate heirs of copyrights is the immediate family of the decedent no one else
  • mjj production submitts the songs(not the copyright) for an album and sony will record this songs to make an album....mjj production will make a contract per reproduction of an album...and that is what michael gets the royalty per album...
  • actually if you look at it in a strict manner michael should be recieving 2 royalties payment as a song writer and as a  singer of each album he made in sony.....
